For all Primary School children the curriculum is organised into three Key Stages:

• Foundation Stage Curriculum for 3-5 year olds (Reception Year at Barrowby School; children aged from 4 years).
• National Curriculum at Key Stage 1 for 5-7 year olds (Year Groups 1 and 2).
• National Curriculum at Key Stage 2 for 7-11 year olds (Year Groups 3, 4, 5 and 6).

For each subject, and for each key stage, programmes of study set out what pupils should be taught. 

At Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 the National Curriculum consists of a range of subjects for children aged 5 -11. These subject areas are English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, History, Geography, Art, Music and Physical Education.

Religious Education forms an important part of our curriculum with Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship. These areas are particularly recognised in our curriculum, to help our pupils to lead confident, healthy and independent lives, and to become responsible citizens.
